Busbies, Bond, bull dogs and the Beatles are expected to descend on Ilkley on the 2nd May as the "Best of British" is announced as the theme of Ilkley Carnival 2016!
This year's theme was suggested by local parents and agreed by the carnival committee who visited Bradford's Industrial Museum to gather inspiration from British-made cars, telephones and costumes and kick start carnival season in style!
With the breathtaking headline act Knights of the Damned performing live jousting and choreographed 'foot fights' throughout the day, plus a visit from Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a vintage car show, children's craft tent, Punch and Judy, funfair and children's entertainment throughout the afternoon, the show stopping parade along The Grove at 11.30am is just the beginning of a fantastic family day out.
Ilkley Carnival also carries a serious intention to raise valuable funds for the local community. This year, AWARE (Airedale and Wharfedale Autism Resource), Ilkley Christchurch Scout Group and Ilkley Cricket Club's flood defence appeal are the primary beneficiaries of the event with the remaining profits split between organisations and charities that help before, during and after the big day.
