Earn funds for your group by volunteering at Ilkley Carnival

As well as our committee, it takes hundreds of volunteers to help stage Ilkley Carnival each year and all helpers have their hours logged against the group they are volunteering for. This allows us to pro-rata hours worked and distribute 50% of our profits to the groups who help us.

The grid below outlines the days and roles we require helpers for, please take a moment to look down it so you can offer your services best suited to you or your group.

Saturday 25 April Advance Ticket Selling: Advising passers-by of details of the event, selling tickets etc. The Grove, Ilkley (outside Betty’s) Min 2 hour slots 10am–4pm
Saturday 2 May Advance Ticket Selling: Advising passer-by of details of the event, selling tickets etc. The Grove, Ilkley (outside Betty’s) Min 2 hour slots 10am–4pm
Saturday 2  May Assisting setting up Carnival field: Erecting marquees, and key equipment ready for the event East Holmes Field From 9am until 6pm approx..
Sunday 3  May Completion of set up: Finalising the set up, gates activated, all signage up, and ready to receive guests. East Holmes Field From 6am – as many hours as you can spare.
Sunday 3  May Helpers Admin: Meet and greet East Holmes Field From 7am – 2 hour slots
Sunday 3  May Access and directions for those entering the site: Ensuring all trade / charity and performers are shown to their location, safely. East Holmes Field From 7am until 12 noon

 

Sunday 3  May Traffic Marshalling: Maintaining the road closures for safety of all parade and visitors. Various locations – in Ilkley. Starting at Grove Rd / Kings Rd junction for briefing 10am Approx. 1.5 hours, including briefing
Sunday 3  May Fundraising / money collecting: Active collecting, with buckets, during the parade. Moving in and around the crowds while the parade moves through the town Starting Grove Rd / Kings Rd junction 10.15 start. Walk with the parade down to East Holmes Field
Sunday 3 May Collecting money on all gates: Meet and greet, take payment in cash, in teams East Holmes field 2 hour slots, or more.

 

Sunday 3  May Online ticket confirmations: Using smart phones with an app ensure online tickets are scanned. East Holmes field 2 hour min per person. Approx. 6 – 8 people will be needed through the day.
Sunday 3  May Litter pickers: Actively clearing the field throughout the day East Holmes field As many hours as possible
Sunday 3  May Clear Down: We will need willing people to help take down all items set up on Saturday and Sunday morning East Holmes Field From approx. 4pm until 8.30 pm.
